Could not get lock var lib dpkg lock open 11 Resource temporarily unavailable

You can use sudo lsof /var/lib/dpkg/lock to find the process that owns the lock file (if empty, assume the lock is left over from a previous boot and can be sudo rmd), then consider doing a sudo kill -9 (get from lsof output.




You can delete the lock file with the following command:

sudo rm /var/lib/apt/lists/lock

You may also need to delete the lock file in the cache directory

sudo rm /var/cache/apt/archives/lock

After that, try opening Synaptic again.

CORBY 2 USB not DETECTED ! FIXED !

    Have you ever encountered USB problems in Corby 2? or let us just say you want to install/update a firmware, and when you try to plug it on your computer, it wont detect your device. This is probably caused by some reasons ( either hardware or software problem ). But in this tutorial, let us do some common troubleshooting method which may be helpful to you.

1. Samsung USB Driver

    Drivers are very important. Your device wont run if theres no driver installed ( Just like a car without driver, it wont run ).
    This is one of the most common causes why your
computer wont detect your device ( Corby 2 ). The first thing you should do is to check if you have installed Samsung USB Driver.

For windows XP Users : When you do this step, plug-in your device ( Coby 2 ) in your computer first.

* Go to "Control Panel"
* Click "Performance and Maintenance" and then click "System"
* Now a new tab will appear. Click "Hardware" then "Device Manager".
* Under "Modems", you should see "Samsung Mobile USB Modem" if you have installed one. ( See similar image in Windows 7 Mode )

* If you dont have one, you should download and install Samsung USB Driver http://adf.ly/QhzLw

For Windows 7 Users: 

* Click "Start" on the lower left corner of your screen.
* Now search for "Device Manager"
* Under "Modems", you should see "Samsung Mobile USB Modem" if you have installed one. 

After a successful installation, your device should be successfully detected. 

2. Broken USB Cable

If you have done the steps in step 1 correctly and still your device is not detected, then it may be cause by broken USB Cable.

These steps might be helpful in knowing if you have a broken cable or not.

* Start your phone ( Corby 2 ) 
* Go to "Settings" and then "Connections"
* Go to USB and set it to "USB Mode" before connecting on your computer.
* You should be prompted to go for USB mode and click "Yes" on your phone ( Corby 2 ).
* If you can access your files in your computer ( Files stored in Memory Card like Photos and etc. ), then your USB Cable is not broken. 

3. Broken/Damaged USB Port

If you have completely tried the steps above and still your device is undetectable, then you might be experiencing a broken or damaged USB Port.


Try to plug your USB Cable in different USB Port. If you are using an external USB Port, then try to remove it. The better way is to check if you are having a malfunctioned USB port. 

* Go to "Control Panel"
* Click "Performance and Maintenance" and then click "System"
* Now a new tab will appear. Click "Hardware" then "Device Manager".
* Under USB controllers ( Universal Serial Bus controllers ), try to check if you can see a yellow mark which indicates malfunctioned.
